Today, 3 September 2010, while on the way back from the Dentist I was so frustrated by the obvious inability of some of the people around me to drive properly and fill up the spaces in their lane so I would know which lane to choose in order to pass the slow-pokes, that I realized that my impatience might induce me to make an imprudent move and possibly cause an accident.

Impatience in traffic being a recurring incident in my life, instead of asking God to forgive for my attitude which I normally do, I decided to ask the StarMaker why I was so easily moved to impatience, especially with other people.

And guess what: He answered my prayer!

Matthew 22:35-40 (NIV)

35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"

37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

38This is the first and greatest commandment.

39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.

40All the Law and the Prophets    hang on these two commandments."

Within seconds I began to realize that all the cars and trucks around me were driven by my neighbors. This may sound obvious to most of you, but for me the realization meant also that I, myself, was represented in all those vehicles. How often have I not paid enough attention and done things that I cannot stand from others: forget to use my direction indicator, make sudden moves, etc.

It turned out that I had no patience with myself. I could not even love myself! No wonder I had no patience for others.

A smile returned to my face :) and I continued contently and very patiently.

with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee ...
